I finally had the design turn to something more interesting than clean line and colors. I'll be honest, I can't spend too much time cleaning a drawing. I feel disconnected from my work doing so and eventually mess up in the final. I like the nice sketchy line with an explosion of colors :) Here's a WIP of the poster.

I was blogging around some friends blogs and noticed that mine hasn't been updated for 6 months!! OUCH!! Good news is that I've been up to something BIG. Yep, short film!

Wrote a screenplay and helped my buddy Jorge film his short film "Spill Canvas".

(I'm also working on some VFX shots for another short film and making a poster for someone else. My hands are full!!)

I have more of these exciting projects coming up and I can't wait to share them on my blog! If i have to make a resolution for 09, it'll be to update my blog at least once a week.

Right now I want to redesign the look and post some sweeeet sketches i did recently.

Posing

When drawing people or some kind of characters, the first thing that comes to my mind is the pose. How will that character position him/herself in accordance to the BG or in an empty space? And so, very often I find myself restarting the drawing or blocked at one because I don't find the pose appealing enough. I like to draw people in movement. If it's a still, I'll try to curve the body as much as possible to get a nice dynamic silhouette. Even in photography, I prefer the "not planned" poses, even if they're blurry, because they are more real and you feel life in the picture (motion=life) . A lot of the times I don't even know what I'm going to draw, but I have a feeling of what kind of composition I want to have. And so, in these situations, I find myself just throwing a few lines that eventually connect to each other to make a character.

My first Dr. Sketchy experiance. Drawing the sexy Lcey Lingerie, both are 20 min poses.

The first one I had to incorporate Santa for a contest, that I won :-)

Second is a simple pose, she probably fell asleep. The pillow looked comfortable.

Crazy cool Colerase pencil was used to draw the down to earth lady.

Two among many sketches I do in the bus while going to work. These 2 are freestyle sketches. I didn't have anything planned untill I had a quarter of each piece done. Basically, I was going with the shapes I was drawing.

She so Fly: A funky, old school and sporty fairy that comes to me in my dreams :P

Boxer Strong: I dunno. Some dude with fohawk (in the summer) and a hemp bracelt like mine in boxers. w/e keeping it weird.
